In addition to being the former chairman of the Department of Surgery at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, Dr. Goldberg is a member of the Board of Directors of Medical Society of Virginia, an active member and former president of the Medical Society of Northern Virginia Foundation, and an active member of both the National Capital Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

He completed a general surgery residency at the Thomas Jefferson Medical Center in Philadelphia and then obtained further training in plastic surgery at the prestigious UCLA Medical Center. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
